William Gregory "Greg" Harrison Obituary

William G. “Greg” Harrison, age 68, a resident of Shorewood, IL and formerly of Bolingbrook, IL, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022 at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 11, 1953 in South Charleston, WV. Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Crystal (nee Haberman); his loving children, Gregory Scott Harrison, Sara (Daniel) Lahti and Amy Harrison; his cherished grandchildren, Dillon Harrison, Justin Harrison, Ashley Harrison, Matthew Gjerde, Payton Gjerde, Harper Lahti; his siblings, Terri (Richard) Wells, Richard (Paula) Thomas, and T.J. Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda (the late Chuck) Thomas and Troy (Janet) Harrison, and his brother, Bob Thomas. Greg was married one week after his 18th birthday to the love of his life Crystal. Greg worked construction from 1968-2009 when he retired as a concrete superintendent. His work ethic was very important to him. No matter what, you went to work and provided for your family. He truly enjoyed spending his free time with his family and making memories boating, camping, riding his Harley and traveling. He was always happy attending anything for his grandkids! A school concert, a volleyball game, basketball game, baseball game or motocross race! He was his grandkids biggest fan! At the end of the day family, friends, and good food was all the mattered. For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Greg’s life, memorial donations may be directed to either the Christopher Reeve Foundation or the Miami Project, to further the research on spinal cord injuries. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 16, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 17, 11:00 AM at Messiah Lutheran Church, Joliet, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet.
